Today, I am grateful for thinking about my role in challenging systems that are dehumanizing to those in positions of "weakness"
I don't believe I am doing enough but this cannot be done alone because it is so systemic. Too many people allowing the systems to go on and continue causing harm. I like the framing of thinking about this selfishly. What do you want for your family? If you would not want this for your family, why would you wish this on other people's family? I am a high school american history and psychology teacher. I ask my students to engage in questions about what is happening in their lives and their choices of what they would want to see changed that would make their lives better, without harming other people's abilities to live their lives. This work is getting harder...
