MindScape:
A Psychology Game
Driving Question (DQ)
How can you unravel the intricate workings of the human brain by creating a game about behaviors, emotions, and cognitive processes, that can be played with at least 3 other people?
Supporting Questions (SQ)
Biological Pillar - Unravel the specific parts of the brain that are responsible for different behaviors.
Cognition Pillar - Illuminate the intricacies of mental processes, including perception, memory, problem-solving, and decision-making, that fosters a broader appreciation of cognitive functions in everyday life.
Project Description
Students will embark on a journey to unravel the intricate workings of the human brain by delving into the three fundamental dimensions of behavior, emotions, and cognitive processes. Their projects, creating a game, will serve as comprehensive explorations that go beyond textbook knowledge, incorporating interdisciplinary perspectives and real-world applications. To unravel the complexity of behavior, students may choose to conduct behavioral experiments, case studies, or interviews that shed light on the factors influencing human actions. Exploring emotions might involve artistic expressions, surveys, or interactive simulations to illustrate the dynamic interplay between neural processes and affective experiences. Additionally, for the cognitive processes dimension, students may design thought-provoking puzzles, games, or experiments to showcase the intricate mechanisms underlying memory, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Students will leverage their understanding of the human brain to propose innovative solutions or interventions that address specific challenges in mental health. This will involve creating goals and rules, designing the game, or developing community-based initiatives that promote psychological well-being. Through their projects, students aim not only to deepen their own comprehension of the subject matter but also to contribute meaningfully to our collective knowledge while fostering a greater awareness of the practical implications for mental health in society.
