Learning Targets
Collective Action:  I can explain my rights according to the Constitution and our Constitutional Amendments.

Equality: I can analyze movements for equality throughout U.S. History and compare them to the actions of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC).
​Justice: I can analyze movements for justice throughout U.S. History and how they have been helped and hindered by citizens, state/federal government institutions and elected officials.

​Driving Question(s)

Q1 - How can we create a podcast series about our collective actions to bring awareness and safety to schools from gun violence?

Q2 - How have elected officials and state/federal governments helped or hindered the effectiveness of different movement throughout US History?

Project Description

Students will be asking questions, researching and developing a proposal to effect positive government policy to address gun violence, specifically, school gun violence. Our ultimate goal will be  to present our policy ideas to state legislators and get their feedback. The students will also be asked to look at how state/federal governments responded to the efforts of this organization and other organizations. The students will show their learning by creating a podcast series, as a class.

Entry Event

Friday, March 18th - 1/2 to 2/3s of students absent because of a threat that was deemed non-credible.
