Develop Driving Question: A stimulus for jumpstarting student questions. It can be a short statement or a visual or aural aid in any medium or format that can stimulate students thinking that will be expressed through their questions. It is the opposite of using a teacher's question to prompt student thinking.

1. It has a clear focus.
2. It is not a question.
Two more guidelines may be helpful
1. It provokes and stimulates new lines of thinking.
2. It does not reveal teacher preference or bias.
