My Why
As a student of World and American History, I cannot live in contradiction to what I have learned about the power of labor unions to enact positive change.
Moving to Arizona from South Dakota, where teachers were at the whim of the school districts, I could not pass up this opportunity!
WHY, YOU, AS A PARENT/STUDENT, SHOULD BE EXCITED THAT I AM PRO-UNION...
- Being Pro-Union is caring about the learning conditions/environments because they are the working conditions of us educators. I am doing this because it is about the students. The goal is well-paid educators, professionally respected educators, clean/safe/updated facilities and with these things they will help create an environment that will help you or your child succeed.
Because of this, I feel it is necessary to use my teacher and union voice to advocate for my students, for teachers working conditions and that our communities have healthy, fully funded, public education system.
Being a dues paying member and being active, Learn and Lead Committee Chair and Tempe High Site Rep., in our local association, Tempe Secondary Education Association, has allowed me to be in community with my colleagues from my campus and other campuses, working together to advocate for our students and our teachers.
I would love to have a one-on-one conversation about why you NEED to be a TSEA member!
Email me at [email protected] and we will set up a time to meet and I will buy you a drink of your choice!
