What is the point?
Social behaviors in psychology encompass a wide range of actions and interactions that individuals engage in within a social context. Students exploring this aspect of psychology investigate the ways in which people relate to and influence one another. Topics include social influence, conformity, obedience, aggression, prosocial behavior, and interpersonal relationships. The study of social behaviors also examines the impact of social norms, cultural influences, and group dynamics on individual actions. Social psychology delves into the cognitive processes underlying social behaviors, such as attribution, attitudes, and stereotypes. Through empirical research and experimental studies, students gain insights into how individuals navigate social situations, form connections, and contribute to the complex fabric of societal interactions. The study of social behaviors is essential for understanding the intricate ways in which individuals shape, and are shaped by, the social environments in which they live.
