Course Description
Students in World History “explore a variety of peoples, events, and movements in world history with a focus on inquiry into the impact of social, geographic, political, and economic influences on historical events.” The course starts in the 15th century to “allow for depth of content and connection to current issues and events.” The course is divided into 3 units per quarter. Each unit focuses on the skills of using inquiry questions, gathering evidence, and utilizing primary and secondary sources as well as one additional skills focus such as change and continuity over time, point of view, or cause and effect. Each unit has a compelling question to guide the inquiry of the unit. Each essential standard is then aligned to a supporting question, learning target(s), and key content. Each unit also lists possible primary and secondary sources that can be used to support the essential standards of the unit.
