Four Rules for Producing Questions
1. Ask as many questions as you can about the Driving Question (DQ) and Support Questions (SQs)
2. Do not stop to discuss, judge or answer any question.
3. Write down every question as it is stated.
4. Change any statement to a question.

2-3 minutes - Each student thinks independently and silently about these four rules for producing questions and writes down their thoughts.
- Are any of the rules confusing or do you understand what they are saying?
- Which rule(s) will be the easiest to follow?
- Which rule(s) will be the hardest to follow?
2-3 minutes - Gather together with a partner or a small group (3-4) and share your thoughts.
- Does your thinking match with others or do differently people find different aspects easy and hard?
2-3 minutes - Observations discussed as a large group.
- Question to ask to the whole group - Why are the rules necessary?
