Written self-evaluation
I have so much to learn. I have so many questions. I need to continue to read and have conversations about how to best lead others to build a positive learning culture for staff and students. Each of the six ISLLC standards need to be continuously worked on because development of relationships does not happen over night. I want to continue to involve as many professionals in my students learning and will continue to encourage others to use our valuable experts to help the students gain invaluable skills that will have immediate impact to their education this year and beyond. This impact will continue to have a positive impact on our community because our young people will all eventually be voting age and be able to decide what actions need to be taken in our city.
I realize I have many tendencies to encourage risk-taking as it benefits the students. I see my role as a future administrator is to empower both staff and students to take their learning to their next levels and not ask for permission but to make their education meaningful for them and for their community.
Reflection on your PIP including Post ISLLC Evaluations
1. Promote the mission and vision of our school district. We have 5 areas that we are collectively working towards, reading proficiently by 3rd grade, 21st century learners, college, career and life readiness, teaching and leading and partnerships. Students will be engaged in Project-based learning that will promote students to use critical thinking skills and collaboration skills to complete the projects. (Standard 1)
2. There will be success for all students and the opportunity to use skills that are their identified strengths. The relevance of the projects will promote rigor in the classroom for the students and this will help develop a culture of excellence in our school building and throughout our school district. (Standard 4)
3. I will continue to act in fairness and hold myself to the highest ethical manner possible both professionally and personally. I will be reflective of my practices and seek input from informal and formal observations in order to have multiple perspectives speaking into my life. Throughout the school year, I will seek out my administration, colleagues and student feedback on my practices. (Standard 5)
4. Develop connections with local and state government agencies to connect students to our leaders. Throughout the Fall 2017 semester, allow for opportunities for students to interact with these officials to communicate ideas on local and state issues. (Standard 6)
I was able to receive the designation of "Distinguished" on my official 2018 teacher evaluation from my mentor and supervisor, I believe in large part because I was successful in working in the areas that were designated on my PIP. Each area allowed for profound intentional growth that, along with my teaching practices drastically transforming as a result of new learning, allowed for giant success. Saying this, I recognize I have so many areas for growth. I do allow myself to think about all the accomplishments and successes but know that those successes will go away if I rest and do not continue to learn and implement my new learning.
